Con few shun

February 26, 2008

This week brought blogs of confusion, in the mondegreen sense of course.

Sean and Neelam had some good ones, along with some utube clips.  Dawn wrote about a modegreen stemming from baby talk and Priya wrote about how modegreens stemming from “zoning out”.

And speaking of confusion, Regan, Sean, and Matt wrote about how our auditory system uses interaural differences to overcome the cones of confusion.

Many of you wrote about the various technologies and treatments that have been developed to help people hear better.  Josh wrote about cochlear implants, Cameron wrote about different speech therapies, and Wendy recounts some tips on talking to people who may be hard of hearing.

Finally, Katie, Adam, and Preston wrote about how brain damage can lead to the various aphasias we’ve been talking about in class.

Glad we could clear up a little bit of the confusion.  So the next time you’re on your way to Iespienso (thanks Caroline), go to the bathroom on the right (thanks Allison) and don’t go Jason Waterfalls (thanks Jennifer) or put a knee up in my neck (thanks Ifeoma).  Just be ready for me (thanks Mary).
